Clients, friends and neighbors,

As stated in our prior post, we are aware of reports of the death of several dogs in our community. At this time, the cause has not been determined. We have not cared for patients with acute illnesses that have passed away here at Kindness Pet Hospital.

It is impossible to make specific recommendations for your pet, as we do not have a definitive diagnosis of disease. We are in contact with other veterinarians in the area and are sharing case information.

If you have concerns, please monitor your pet daily for clinical signs of illness such as behavior changes, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea or changes in appetite and energy level. If you notice these changes, please call for an appointment so that one of our doctors can evaluate your pet and recommend a diagnostic plan to address your concerns. Please do not dose over-the-counter supplements or medications without first speaking to a veterinarian.

There has been discussion in the community that Leptospirosis may be the cause of recent deaths. This has NOT been confirmed. If you are concerned about Leptospirosis or want to learn more, please visit the links below and call to discuss the vaccine protocol and side effects, to check the status of your pet’s Leptospirosis vaccination or make an appointment for vaccination.
